A Day at the Beach

Adorkable Peapod has released some new wonderful poses for the beach: five for the guys and five for the girls. I am showing you here four of them, the one on the knees being normaly for the guys but as you can see, it is very sexy for girls aswell.

I have updated one of the ** Dunes ** shapes for the pictures. Flora is a gorgeous woman with curves everywhere it is needed and seeing the reaction of each man I have shown the shape, she is going to turn heads. Stay tuned for an upcoming release.

Teal Garden

Hello,

Hart Larsson of PXL Creations did it again, I am falling in love with his new skin, Gaia. I’ve tried it with a lot of shapes and each time, it looks so pretty. Gaia has all I like so much with PXL skins, she is not oily, perfect for photography. In addition to that, Hart has made the shadows of the face so smooth it softens a lot the face and should earn new customers who might have found PXL skins a bit too hard before. Gaia is meant to be a younger looking skin than the previous PXL ones but like always, it respects the shape, doesn’t cover it completely so you can achieve looks a bit more mature.

Gaia is already available as a prerelease for the members of the [ PXL ] Female VIP group (which is totaly worth joining as you get a 10% discount on everything you buy so the initial cost will be rapidly refunded) at the PXL mainstore. and will be released for everyone at the Skin and Shape Expo on May 10th. I have chosen a top from Mon Tissu and a skirt from Fishy Strawberry, two of my favorite shops for their great quality photorealistic clothes. I remember almost four years ago, when I have tried a photorealistic skirt for the first time. It went directly to the trash bin. For a while, I have been avoiding anything which was not hand drawned because of that very bad photocopy feeling. Since then, fortunately, I have tried others and I love good ones. The hair is one of this week new Truth’s styles which is very feminine.

There is so much going on lately, it is almost impossible to keep track of all the nice releases. I am having a hard time deciding what I like best. That is a relief as for a small period I was a bit fed up with what I was seeing. Let’s hope designers go on creating awesome items once all the fairs are over but let’s also remember there are incredible designers who have steady regular collections, even if a fair is the easy way to shop. And believe me, I am the first one who should visit a bit more and move my lazy ass to stores I don’t know yet.

Taupe and the Silk Kerchief

The Secret Store is finally being invited at The Dressing Room Blue and of course, Maylee Oh couldn’t just make a great skirt based on her latest release, she had to make a most awesome one! I am totaly in love with the print of the fabric, with a Art Nouveau feeling, rich colors and a silk effect. The skirt comes in two options, with and without a bow belt. I don’t know if the skirt will be avalaible when the TDR Blue closes its doors so you have to grab it NOW! For 60 L$ only, you have to get it!

I probably won’t have much time this coming days so i’ll cheat a bit and will already propose this post for the Taupe week of the 52 Weeks of color challenge. The star of this post is the skirt but the brown accessories and background are allowing to show the best out of it. Taupe is a great color, it is elegant and can be easily warmed up by small hints of more vivid colors. I am using it a lot in my outfits for these reasons.

Some words about the bag. I saw it first on Whimsy Winx’ blog and immediately Teleported to the shop to get it. It is a new release from the well known japanese creator June Dion of B@rerose. June offers us quality designs for very cheap prices. I often use bags coming from this shop as they are original with great textures. They come in several attachment points and in this case, you even get a smaller bag to use as a clutch for a mere 120 L$. It is not to be missed if you’re looking for nice accessories at a low price.

Kawaii Cowgirl

Don’t worry, or I am sorry, it depends on your point of view on the subject, but no, I am not changing my style for kawaii. It is cute, nice, sweet, etc. but that is definately not me. BUT… I’ve got that great friend who has a serious kawaii tendance and who tried to corrupt me last night, I will give her name, cause once again, it is all her fault: Maylee Oh! She had the great *coughs* idea to drag me to japanese stores, the pink ribbons ones, you know, the ones I see and walk to the other side of the street…

After several sims and shops, even Maylee was feeling a bit nauseous from all the kawaii shamallows. You see, it is cute, sweet, etc. but it is just like sugar, a little is nice, too much and you got sick. We were about to give up when we both sighted the same tunic at Lo*momo. Courageously, I’ve left her try a red one first. I know, I am nice. We rapidly agreed the fluffy lace ribbon skirt was to be avoided but the top was so cute I’ve picked a light brown one. In a previous store, yorim’s, I had bought that fur and feather pochette. Rapidly the idea to work on cowgirl look was born. I also wanted to use one of the new Confetti minis skirts from Sn@tch. These are simply a must-have basic for any wardrobe.

Maybe you will have noticed something new for me in these three pictures, it is the depth of field, the blur that is more intense as you move away from the camera focus. I was finaly able to have the new S21 build of Kirsten’s viewer to work on my computer. I don’t know why but the S20 was not working for me so maybe you might give it a try too and test it by yourself.

Lazy but Stubborn

Hello,

for today, a few blabla, a little rant and one of my favorite outfits of the moment.

I am working on this post for 2 days. Not because the outfit was hard to get together, not at all, it was actualy easy. First came the jacket with the gilet from Kungler. I was still wearing the Surf Co. tank top from last post which was the right match so i didn’t look further. I am kind of lazy, I have to admit that. I didn’t feel like looking for a new brown skirt so I’ve searched in the depth of my inventory for that Miel Skirt. Then, I wanted to visit !Lamb to see the new hairstyles. Red hair with red jacket is not so great so i went for light brown for a change. While I was there, I’ve received a notecard from Courtisane to tell us about new releases. A quick teleport and some demo’s convinced me these were the boots i needed.

Now the rant. 2 days… After the styling part, I’ve been searching SL for the perfect location. It took me the whole evening and when i’ve finaly found what i wanted, it was way too late and I had to go to bed. Today, pretty happy as I only had to take the pictures and to write the post, i’ve started to try to capture some snapshots… After 3 hours of crashes, some inventory losses (new hair from !Lamb and a necklace from kungler) I was able to take 1 picture, only one, in my studio (Any non studio location is just out of question). It is the one you can see below. As I am more stubborn than lazy, I went on trying. I was not happy with that picture, i don’t like the lighting that much, it is a bit too yellow for me but you seem to like it on flickr. Suddenly and without doing any change to my settings, I was finaly able to take some more pictures, these are the ones you can see at the top of the post. Personnaly, i prefer a whiter lighting but feel free to tell me which one you prefer and why.

I am stubborn so I haven’t dropped taking pictures with shadows yet… but i don’t have that much free time that i can waste 4 hours a day trying to take pictures. I’ll have to decide whether to go on or not.

Bleu Canard

Hello,

Call it the way you like: teal, cyan, cerulean blue, turquoise, bleu pétrole. I call it duck blue and it is one of my favorite colors.

This morning, when I’ve found that skirt at MNK, I was all excited, as I like a lot the combination of taupe and bleu canard (yes, a little of french here as I often prefer the names we have for the colors). Then, a small nightmare began as I couldn’t find a matching top. I’ve tried brown but it was a bit sad. White or cream were not working either. Finaly, i’ve found that sweater at So Many Styles. I was looking for an occasion to use those jewels from Sigma I had picked up at a special price at Coppley Square some time ago; the thin teal line makes it a perfect addition to the outfit. I’ve also found an excuse to buy that bag you’ve seen in plenty of blogs, including Élan by Fayne Khandr (that is where i’ve picked the LM), it is from B@rose and definately gorgeous.

I was a bit disapointed while working on this outfit. I thought it would be easy to find tops with the bleu canard color but after visiting all my favorite shops, I’ve found very little choices. It is funny to see colors wearing the same name (teal) really don’t match.
Last time i went for some shopping in RL, it was a color in fashion, we could see it in plenty of shops but not in SL. I insist here, it is more blue than green and what we often see is a bit too green and too light.

I am often amazed when talking with people to see we can use so different names for the same color. I remember having a discussion with a friend about violet. I wanted violet mascara and he came back with mauve. So, I told him thank you but that is not the right color, what you brought me is much lighter than violet. And then, a very long discussion issued with comparisons like “mauve is kind of like lilac, while violet is like the flower, dark, a bit like aubergine”. In the end, he still calls it mauve.

New at Dutch Touch and Aoharu

Hello,

one more new face has arrived at Dutch Touch this morning, Xaya. As always, you can find the powdered effect which caracterizes Dutch Touch Skins but this time, the nose is very different. It makes me think of a rose bouton, cute and round. The way it is drawn is pretty special as I don’t remind me having seen anything like this in the past. There is only one eyebrow option, so this skin might not suit every color of hair though the tone chosen is not too dark. I’ve picked the basic make-up (750 L$ with VIP group instead of 1000 L$) which depicts best the work on the other details of the face. If you’re looking for a fresh face, Xaya might be the one.

As Xaya has that sweet fresh touch to it, I thought new releases from Aoharu were perfect for the romantic nostalgy of The Far Away Sim. While the shirt is nothing very new from Aoharu, just a declinaison of what was released in the past, the lace skirt is pretty cute and the Anexx Cowboy boots are great looking with fancy details and realistic fringes.

Now… the little rant of the day… while it is convenient for people who have no idea about how the basic building tool is working, I hate resize scripts. I am not even wearing jewelry and I just cannot TP away with this outfit. Avatar rendering cost 7714! Ever heard about lag? Remove the boots => down to 4066. So wear those great boots, look good with them and don’t try to do anyting else, anyway, you will lag your hell out trying to do anything with them. Remove the shirt => 2928. Remove the skirt => 1353 ! BAN RESIZE SCRIPTS! Thank you! Seriously, prims and sculpies are already enough resources eater without adding useless scripts to the count.

Not So Original

Hello,

I know, you’ve seen everything on this picture in plenty of other blogs. I know, NotSoBad riads have been pictured everywhere. I know… BUT sorry, that is what quality does. No matter how many times you will see some items, they deserved to be seen, shown, blogged about, again and again. I don’t blog to be orginal, I do it to show the shapes I create, having fun dressing them with things I like and taking pictures. I just hope you’ll like them too.

Now, a tip for this Maitreya’s top. At first, it didn’t work good with the shape i was wearing, which was petite with a short torso and wide hips. That is a problem with sculpty prims that you cannot always mod or resize them to fit your shape, either it was too large at the top of the prim, either too small at the bottom. I’ve tried the taller version of the shape, as I didn’t want to make smaller hips, which has a longer torso and voilà, it was all it needed to fit perfectly.
