Pixel Mode Closing

Bad news have struck the Fashion community today as Tya Fallingbridge has announced she was closing her store Pixel Mode, for some time, as soon as the Shoe Fair was over. Let’s hope it is only temporary. We are loosing once more someone who has brought a lot to Second Life throughout the years because of too much pressure and being hurt.

I won’t discuss here who is right or wrong. I have seen several comments about this case, many people have different opinions about it for different reasons. Probably noone really knows. We love to all hate the same person after all. But once again, things have gone too far. It is sad to see drama counts more than quality and fashion.

I was planning on blogging the new Fae wedges already before learning the news as they are high quality. The sculpts and shadows are great, I also love the texture of the feet with details like wrinkles at the back of the ankle. I have no problem with the HUD as there are preset skins close enough to the skins I have to suit me when I want something fast. I have to say I am not so picky with sculpted feets tones because it might look good with some windlight settings and completely wrong with others. I have also noticed my perception of the tone changes from one computer to the other. I might be very happy with it on the laptop and not at all with the tower which has a more powerful graphic card. So while I could loose time to get a perfect match (in this case, 2 minutes with the notecard provided including the values for several skins) I often choose to be lazy and have it roughly correct but good enough. Unless the skin and the feet are made using the same texture, I hardly see how it would be possible anyway. In other words… HUD’s are much ado about nothing in my opinion.

For this 52 weeks of color challenge, Pink, I could have gone all girly and cute but instead, I prefer to play a rich woman going to a party on the roofs of Marrakech, the pink city. I have never had any problem with this color, actualy, I like it pretty much and think it is elegant and feminine. Such a lady only wears elegant outfits and one of the first brand which comes to my mind is Donna Flora with its vintage touch.

A second brand evocating sophistication is Baiastice and the new line of Maxine shoes makes no exception. It comes in 4 different versions: sandal, platform, over-height sandal and wedges. The three first types are available at Baiastice mainstore while the wedges can only be found at the Shoe Fair 2011 which opens today 14th May at noon SLT. These shoes are perfect if you are looking for elegant high heels. The HUD is pretty easy to use with 20 custom skin tones and plenty of nails colors options.

Girly Gaia

Hello,

There is a new accessory at The Secret Store, the Girly Briefcase which comes in 9 fun colors, with color change bow and handle, 3 ways to wear it with poses especially made for the bag and a no pose version too.

I am also wearing the new [PXL] Creations skin, the lovely Gaia, which will be released in the coming days. Gaia is meant to be a younger face than the previous PXL skins. She has lovely pouty glossy lips with a soft face and new eyes makeups. There will be plenty of body options. I can’t wait for Hart Larsson to release it at the Skin & Shape Expo 2011.

I’ve picked the dress and the scarf at the Baiastice store at Culture Shock. The jewelry and the shoes are from Donna Flora. I wanted something more formal to balance the girly look of the bag and the skin. The hair is the Watson style from LeLutka which is opened again after a bried closing if you missed the notice in world.

Parisienne Boho

Hello,

There were several new cute releases this week-end, including two Dutch Touch Skins, MensJe and MegAn, and a Mimikri dress, emily, which has a vintage boho feel to it. If you are part of the Dutch Touch VIP group, the MegAn starterpack in cream is only at 400 L$. No idea how long it will last but it is worth to run to the store to get the deal. The skin is cute with far set eyes, tons of options like 3 eyebrows colors, freckles, moles, cleavage.

I’ve been walking for some hours wearing this look, with those great MIEL boots, color changeable to fit about anything, a clutch and matching tights from Croire but there was something missing, hair. I’ve tried several different styles, but I was not happy with what i was finding until I saw an advertizing for Plume, a new hair shop by Fauve Beaumont. Fauve is proposing us original couture styles, with accessories like this cute hat for the Parisienne coiffure, which adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to the look.

The Seasons Hunt was launched on saturday 15th January and will last for two whole weeks. I am not really into hunts, I can even say I am boycotting some of them for several reasons but in this case, I have to admit I am very pleasantly surprised as the designers have been very generous and are offering us awesome items, like the So Many Style Fur Shrug. Believe me, you want to look for it, but be warned, it is a well hidden one! One of the things I like about this hunt is you don’t have to find the gift in one store before being able to move to the next one. If you join the in world The Seasons Hunt(ers) group, you can find a notecard in the notices with the landmarks to the participating stores and tons of help from lovely people. So, you can choose to only visit the stores you like when you don’t have much time online or give a try at the whole list, which is really worth it.

Yellow Pop Art

Hello,

When I saw this week’s 52 Weeks of color challenge was yellow, I considered skipping it as it is a color that doesn’t find much place in my inventory. Fortunately, the Modavia Pop Art show convinced me to still give it a try; mainly, once again, Maylee Oh’s creations for The Secret Store. Maylee was inspired by the work of Roy Lichtenstein, one of the most famous Pop Art Artist well known for his comics and popular advertising like work. If you take a closer look at the Crazy Banana cloak, you’ll see small gray circles which recalls the printing of Lichtenstein’s work. And by the way, for the background, i’ve chosen another famous Pop Art Artist: Andy Wharhol.

There are a lot of other wonderful creations at the event, some you can easily wear, some more Haute Couture. You can check more of Maylee’s designs on The Secret Store blog if you really need a final reason to TP there to acquire her wonderful work. My personal favorite is the blue dress but as the challenge was about yellow, this coat and the boots included in the outfit were just perfect. Note that you can get the whole outfit at the Modavia Pop Art show or separates at The Secret Store. The boots are so cute you cannot miss them!

Camel Gold Choc

you’re looking for some ethnic skin? Then go to Uzuri! Ramla is not a new release but it is by far one of the best you can find on the grid as it is made to look like a woman with african origins; it is not just a template skin colored darker as many you will see around.

I’ve used a combination of camel and chocolate colors to emphasize the beauty of the skin. The dress is a new release from Hucci and I’ve used one of their extra mini skirt which has an awesome belt. I would never dare to wear this skirt on its own as it is so short but it is a nice addition to the simple though sexy look of the dress.
